Televisions are on the allowed bulk list, so a screen goes out with the regular bulk collection. Computers, laptops, monitors, printers, phones and similar devices have their own route: a no-cost city drop off day held twice a year, usually in the spring and the fall, which accepts flat screen monitors and televisions only and has the certified recycler destroy computer hard drives. The Recycle Center itself refuses electronics and computer equipment.

The city publishes the electronic recycling drop off day as no cost and open to residents twice a year and it publishes no separate rate for a television going out with the bulk collection. When & how
Televisions ride the every other week bulk day on your recycling day. The electronics drop off day runs twice a year, usually in the spring and the fall, with the date published on the city calendar.
Get it ready
Remove the ink cartridges from a printer as the city asks, back up and wipe a drive knowing the city's certified recycler destroys computer hard drives, and keep electronics out of the blue recycling bin and away from the Recycle Center, which refuses them.
Glass, batteries, clothing and appliances stay out of the blue bin
The blue bin is single stream recycling for empty, clean and dry material and it takes one bin per property. Glass is not accepted curbside, so glass beverage and food containers go to the Westland Recycle Center at 37137 Marquette rinsed and dry. Batteries go into the drop boxes at City Hall, the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center, the William P. Faust Library or the Recycle Center, clothing and shoes go into the blue Mission Green bins, and old appliances go to the Recycle Center rather than the bin, which also means nothing should be bagged because plastic bags jam the sorting equipment.

A household with a couch, a mattress, a refrigerator, a television or another large item that will not fit in the city trash bin, and no wish to book anything.

The city publishes no separate bulky item rate because the collection comes with the service it provides to households, and the only amounts it prints are the annual leases for an additional city trash bin at 48 dollars for the 64 gallon size and 71 dollars for the 96 gallon size. Arrange it
Set the item on the easement behind the curb by 7:00 AM on your bulk day, which is your regular recycling day and comes every other week, with 4 feet of clearance from the other bins, and leave up to 2 large items or up to 8 extra bags.
Automobile parts including tires and rims, construction and remodeling debris, concrete, bricks and dirt, fencing, boards, paneling and pallets, gas-powered equipment, hot tubs, sheds, swing sets, trampolines, pianos, picnic tables, pool tables and windows or glass doors are refused, and carpet has to be cut into 4 foot lengths and bundled under 50 pounds.

It takes what curbside recycling will not, including glass, all types of scrap metal, all types of batteries, cardboard and paper, clothing and shoes, cookware, grills without tanks and household appliances such as refrigerators with the doors and Freon removed, stoves, air conditioners, washers and dryers.
