Furniture is the first item named on the city's allowed bulk list and it appears again on the hauler's copy of the same list, so a couch, chair, table or dresser goes out with the ordinary bulk collection rather than a booked appointment. The size ceiling is the refused list, which turns away hot tubs, sheds, swing sets, trampolines, pianos, picnic tables, pool tables and lawn gliders.

Break the piece down where it comes apart, keep doors, drawers and cushions with it or bag them separately, and set it on the easement behind the curb with 4 feet of clearance from the bins. Offer anything still usable for donation or the city's clothing and small goods pickup before it becomes a bulk item.

Bins and bulk items go on the street side of any ditches or the back of the curb, and the city asks for at least 4 feet of space between the trash bin, the recycling bin, the bulk pickup and any yard waste containers so the arms can reach each one. Keep the pile clear of parked cars, fire hydrants, trees and utility poles, and clear the snow before you set a bin out, because a bin placed in the street interferes with plowing. Have everything out by 7:00 AM since collection runs from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
A bulk service takes either up to 8 excess trash bags or up to 2 large items that cannot fit into a trash can. The city's sheet adds the useful tip that a household setting out only the 2 large items may also include up to 2 extra bags, which is the practical way to clear a bulky item and the last of the room it came out of on the same day. Anything past those limits waits for the next every other week collection.

No charge. The city states that the Simplerecycling home pickup for clothing, shoes and small home goods is free, and that by free it means absolutely, completely free to residents.
Arrange it
Schedule a pickup with Simplerecycling, then put the items in a container outside your front door by 7:30 AM on the pickup day. No special bags are needed, and a separate truck collects the material so it stays out of the recycling bin.
The pickup covers clothing, shoes and small home goods such as bedding, coats, dishes, curtains, jewelry, pillows, pots and pans, purses, silverware, sleeping bags, tools and toys, the material is graded and sorted locally and regionally, and a missed pickup has to be rescheduled.
