Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Small electronics go free to the household hazardous waste facility, while large electronics such as televisions are refused and need confirming.
City cost & eligibility
The city takes small electronics such as cell phones, digital cameras, pagers, two way radios and ink and toner cartridges at its free household hazardous waste facility, but it states that large electronics are not accepted and publishes no curbside route, so confirm where a television, monitor or computer goes with the Contact Center at 573.874.2489.
When & how
Take small electronics to the household hazardous waste facility on a collection Saturday, and call 573.874.2489 before moving a large set because the facility refuses large electronics.

Building material is prohibited on both the cart route and the bulky route and no city collection or rate is published.
City cost & eligibility

When & how
Arrange a private hauler or container before the work starts, and keep the material off the curb and out of the roll cart in the meantime.
Get it ready
Keep building material, felled trees and large automobile parts out of the bulky pile because the city calls them generally prohibited, and keep paint, solvents and other hazardous products on the household hazardous waste route instead.

Glass is a contaminant and is not accepted in the blue bags, so the city says to put it in the trash, and yogurt cups, clamshells, dairy tubs, black plastics, takeout containers, Styrofoam, packaging, plastic bags and trash do not belong in the recycling stream.
Appliances, bulky items and hazardous products have their own requests
