Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Morrisville collects bulk items twice a year rather than on demand: one spring week and one fall week, free to residents receiving GFL curbside service, with up to five acceptable items per household and each item under 100 pounds. Outside those weeks the town sends residents to Wake County facilities.
Furniture is named first on the town's acceptable bulk list, covering chairs, tables, sofas, desks, beds and area rugs, so it goes out during one of the two annual bulk weeks with each item under 100 pounds.
Mattresses and box springs are on the town's acceptable bulk list for the biannual week. The county route is narrower: mattresses are only accepted at convenience centre sites 1, 2, 4, 7 and 11, which excludes Morrisville's own Site 3, and only two per household per day.
White goods are expressly unacceptable at the bulk pick-up and have their own route: a Public Works collection every three months by advance registration. The county's multi-material facilities take the same appliances year-round.
Electronics are unacceptable at the town's bulk pick-up with the note that they need to be recycled. The published routes are the county's three multi-material recycling facilities, which name televisions, computers, monitors, game consoles, stereos, microwaves and any corded device, and the town's spring and fall Green Day drive-through.
Building material is unacceptable at the town's bulk pick-up. At county level only household construction debris from a homeowner is taken, and only at specific convenience centres, which excludes Morrisville's own site on Aviation Parkway.
Exercise equipment is not named on either list. The closest published items are scrap metal, which must be disassembled into lengths of four feet or less and kept under 100 pounds, and the town's statement that bulk items outside the two weeks go to a county facility.
The handoff matters
Garbage and recycling are collected every week from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. by GFL Environmental, which the town contracts for the service and which handles missed collections, damaged or missing carts and new-resident sign-up directly on 919-596-1363 or through its service portal. Only three holidays shift the schedule, each backing service up one day: Thanksgiving on November 26, 2026 with Thursday collections moving to Friday and Friday to Saturday, Christmas on December 25 with Friday moving to Saturday, and New Year's Day on January 1, 2027 with Friday moving to January 2. All other holidays are serviced on the normal day. Yard waste is collected twice a month on Wednesdays by route, with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday routes on the second and fourth Wednesdays and Thursday and Friday routes on the first and third, and no collection on a fifth Wednesday, which in 2026 falls on April 29, July 29, September 30 and December 30.
