Will the city
take it?

Broken Arrow collects with city crews, one black refuse cart and one blue recycling cart per residence, once a week on Monday through Thursday depending on which part of the city the home sits in. Anything too large for a cart goes out as a scheduled bulky waste pickup that the city bills by volume, with a two cubic yard minimum and an eight cubic yard maximum, and everything is added to the utility account. Appliances with refrigeration systems need a refrigerant removal form signed by a licensed technician before the bulky truck will take them, and microwaves, televisions and monitors are refused on that route. Electronics go to the Metropolitan Environmental Trust center on North Elm Place, household chemicals go to the City of Tulsa Household Pollutant Collection Facility with a voucher the trust issues, and each household also gets two free landfill passes a year for household waste.

Weekly trash and recycling carts

Accepted with preparation

One black refuse cart and one blue recycling cart come with the service, collected once a week by city crews, with the day set by which part of the city the home sits in. Trash has to be bagged and tied inside the cart, recycling goes in loose and clean, and the cart has a weight limit that the trucks will not exceed.

City cost & eligibility
$26.75 per month for curbside refuse pickup inside the city limits. City of Broken Arrow residential accounts under the rate schedule effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. The same schedule prices extra refuse outside the cart at $5.00 a bag, counts any bag larger than 30 gallons as two, charges $5.00 a bag for yard waste beyond 20 clear bags, adds a $10.50 late set out or return service fee, charges $7.50 a month for an additional 96-gallon refuse cart or an additional recycling cart, and lists a $20 cart size change or add and remove fee and a $55 cart replacement fee.
When & how
Carts go to the curb by 6 a.m. on the service day, which runs Monday through Thursday by area, and the crews work until the routes are finished, so the day is guaranteed rather than the time. Collection continues on city holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, and when one of those three falls on a service day the cart goes out the following day.
Get it ready
Bag and tie all trash inside the cart, put recyclables in the blue cart loose, clean and dry, and keep the weight inside the limit the city sets for a 96-gallon cart. Do not leave items sticking out of the cart or pile bags beside it, because a cart that is too heavy or blocked cannot be tipped and may not be serviced.

Bulky waste pickups

Accepted with preparation

Anything too large for the cart goes out as a scheduled bulky waste pickup, which the city bills by volume with a minimum and a maximum size. The service is arranged ahead of time, the schedule is often full for two weeks, and a grappling arm lifts the pile, so the items have to be reachable and clear of cars, mailboxes, low limbs and basketball hoops.

When & how
Book the pickup through the form on the city bulky waste page before anything is set out, because the schedule is often full for up to two weeks, then have the pile ready on the assigned day and reachable by the grappling arm.
Get it ready
Keep the pile clear of mailboxes, parked cars, low hanging limbs and basketball hoops so the operator has room to work, keep hazardous material and the items the city refuses out of it, and expect the volume to be measured in cubic yards when the charge is calculated.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Furniture is one of the item families the bulky pickup page names, so a couch, chair or dresser goes out as a scheduled bulky waste pickup rather than in the cart. The same volume based charge, two week backlog and placement rules apply.

City cost & eligibility
From $20 per cubic yard of bulky waste, with a two cubic yard minimum and an eight cubic yard maximum. City of Broken Arrow residential accounts under the rate schedule effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, with the fee added to the utility account within 60 days of the pickup.
When & how
Book the pickup through the city bulky waste form, then put the furniture out on the assigned day where the grappling arm can reach it.
Get it ready
Empty the drawers, remove cushions you are not sending, and keep the piece clear of the cart, mailboxes, parked cars and low limbs so the operator has room to work.

Book the bulky pickup through the city form, mention that the load is a mattress or box spring, and have the set at the curb on the assigned day where the grappling arm can reach it.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and out of the refuse cart, which takes only bagged household trash, and set it flat and clear of the cart, mailboxes and parked cars so it can be lifted cleanly.

Appliances and white goods

Accepted with preparation

Appliances are one of the families the city names for a bulky waste pickup, and the city runs them through that route rather than the cart. Anything with a refrigeration system has an extra step: the refrigerant has to be removed by a licensed technician and the verification form has to be submitted with the request.

City cost & eligibility
From $20 per cubic yard of bulky waste, with a two cubic yard minimum and an eight cubic yard maximum, and a washing machine is roughly one cubic yard. City of Broken Arrow residential accounts under the rate schedule effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, with the fee added to the utility account within 60 days of the pickup; a refrigerator, air conditioner or freezer is accepted only with the refrigerant removal verification form completed by a licensed CFC technician.
When & how
Remove the refrigerant first and have the completed verification form ready, then book the bulky pickup through the city form and set the appliance out on the assigned day.
Get it ready
Empty the appliance, tape or remove the doors so nothing can be trapped inside, keep it upright for transport, and keep it out of the refuse cart, which takes only bagged household trash.

Televisions, monitors, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics do not go in the cart and are refused on the bulky route, so the city sends them to the Metropolitan Environmental Trust center on North Elm Place. Most small electronics are free there, and televisions and CRT or LCD monitors are accepted for a fee that has to be prepaid as a credit online.

City cost & eligibility
The trust takes the listed small electronics at no charge and recycles televisions and CRT or LCD monitors for a small fee that the city does not publish, because the credit has to be bought at metrecycle.com before the drop off. Buy the credit and confirm the current amount before loading a television or monitor.
When & how
Buy a credit at metrecycle.com if the load includes a television or a monitor, then take the electronics to the Metropolitan Environmental Trust center at 302 N. Elm Place during the center's own opening hours.
Get it ready
Wipe the personal information off phones, computers and smart televisions before anything changes hands, keep remotes, cables and power cords with the devices, and sort the load before arriving because the trust asks visitors to sort their recyclables.

Construction, remodeling and fencing debris

Special rules apply

Remodeling material does not ride with the carts. Roofing, materials and wood from remodeling, privacy or other fencing are on the city's list of items the crews do not pick up, and bags of dirt, rocks or concrete are refused with them, while the bulky page names appliances, furniture and green waste rather than construction material.

City cost & eligibility
The city does not publish a construction rate for households on the pages read, and the bulky service is priced by volume with a minimum and a maximum. Call the solid waste office on 918-259-6570 with the material and the volume to find out how a remodeling load is handled and what it will cost before anything is set out.
When & how
Call 918-259-6570 before a remodeling load goes out, because the city list refuses roofing, remodeling wood and fencing at the curb, and the note the page attaches to those items is not published in the retained body.
Get it ready
Keep dirt, rocks and concrete out of the bags going to the curb, separate clean board and roofing from mixed household trash, and stack what is going to the landfill so it can be tarped and tipped as a single load.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not named anywhere in the city's lists, but a treadmill or a weight machine is far too large for the cart, so the practical route is a bulky waste pickup once the office confirms the machine and the volume it fills. The pickup is priced by cubic yard with a minimum.

City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers an exercise machine on its own, and the bulky service is billed by volume with a two cubic yard minimum and an eight cubic yard maximum. Call the solid waste office on 918-259-6570 with the machine and its size to confirm the pickup and the volume before it goes out.
When & how
Call 918-259-6570 first, then book the bulky pickup through the city form and set the machine out on the assigned day.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart, keep the loose weights and parts with it so the volume is accurate, and keep the pile clear of the cart, mailboxes, parked cars and low limbs.
City bulky waste page with the scheduling method and form, the appliances, furniture and green waste it covers, the refused tires, televisions, monitors, microwaves, concrete and dirt, the per cubic yard charge with its minimum and maximum, the two week backlog and the refrigerant removal form requirementCity solid waste hub with the weekly cart service, the 6 a.m. set out, the items city crews refuse, the 336 pound cart limit, the green waste bag and bundle rules and the solid waste contact numbers

Tires

Not on the regular city route

Every city channel refuses tires. They are on the list of items crews do not pick up, the bulky waste page names them among the things a bulky pickup cannot take, the landfill pass will not admit them, and the Tulsa hazardous waste facility refuses them too, so there is no published household route in the city.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no tire collection and no tire price. Tires are refused in the cart, refused on the bulky pickup route, refused at the landfill and refused by the Tulsa household pollutant facility, so ask the shop that sells or mounts tires about a take back, or use the M.e.t.'s recycling directory to find a private site, and confirm the charge with whoever takes them.
When & how
Ask the tire shop or check the M.e.t. directory at metrecycle.com before loading the tires anywhere, rather than setting them out on a collection day.
Get it ready
Keep tires out of the refuse cart, off the bulky pile, out of the landfill pass load and out of a household hazardous waste voucher trip, because each of those routes refuses them by name.

Paint, chemicals and household hazardous waste

Accepted with preparation

Household chemicals have a real year round route instead of a collection day. Broken Arrow residents take them to the City of Tulsa Household Pollutant Collection Facility, but the trip needs a voucher number from the Metropolitan Environmental Trust first, and the voucher covers the first 45 pounds with a per pound charge beyond that.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Broken Arrow residents get a voucher number from the M.e.t. on 918-584-0584 that covers up to 45 pounds of household hazardous waste at the City of Tulsa Household Pollutant Collection Facility free of charge, with disposal charged at $1.33 per pound after that limit. No chemicals go in the carts or on a bulky pile.
When & how
Call the M.e.t. on 918-584-0584 for a voucher number, then take the material to the City of Tulsa Household Pollutant Collection Facility at 4502 S. Galveston Avenue in west Tulsa on a Wednesday or Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep each product in its original labeled container and never mix chemicals, keep containers out of plastic bags and pack poor condition ones in a box or bucket, and do not bring latex paint with a voucher even though the city's recycling page lists it among the accepted items.

Use one of the two free landfill passes a year

A household that can move its own load and would rather not pay a bulky pickup charge for household waste.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Each solid waste customer can request two passes a year, delivered as a QR code, and use them at the Waste Management Quarry Landfill at no charge. A driver's license has to match the name on the pass, the passes expire at the end of the calendar year, and the landfill's own restrictions apply to the load.
Arrange it
Request the pass through the city form, wait for the QR code, load the household waste, and take it to the Waste Management Quarry Landfill at 13720 E. 46th St. North with the license used on the request.

Batteries, compressed gas cylinders, fluorescent bulbs, hazardous material, liquids such as paint, gasoline and used oil, tires and untreated medical waste are all refused, and an appliance with refrigerant needs documentation that a licensed technician removed it.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Broken Arrow households have three self haul routes. The first is the city landfill pass: each service customer can request two passes a year, get a QR code back, and tip a household waste load free at the Waste Management Quarry Landfill on East 46th Street North with a driver's license that matches the name on the pass, as long as the load carries none of the refused items such as batteries, compressed gas cylinders, fluorescent bulbs, hazardous material, liquids, tires or untreated medical waste. The second is the Metropolitan Environmental Trust center at 302 N. Elm Place, which is the city's answer for electronic waste, small appliances, batteries, motor oil, cooking oil, antifreeze, scrap metal, glass, cans, cardboard and paperboard, with televisions and monitors needing a credit bought at metrecycle.com first. The third is the City of Tulsa Household Pollutant Collection Facility at 4502 S. Galveston Avenue in west Tulsa, open Wednesdays and Saturdays, which takes paints, flammable liquids, lawn chemicals, automotive fluids, batteries, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs and mercury thermostats from Broken Arrow residents who call the M.e.t. on 918-584-0584 for a voucher number covering the first 45 pounds. Fluorescent bulbs and LEDs can also go to a Batteries+Bulbs store, plastic bags go back to grocery and retail stores, and tires have no published city route at all. The listed electronics and recyclables are taken without a published charge, while televisions and monitors need a prepaid credit whose amount the city does not publish, so confirm the current fee before carrying a television or monitor in.

Before you book

Your questions.
Straight answers.

Prices, timing and the details that matter at your address.

How much does pickup cost?

Choose your items to see the exact price. A standard sofa is $79 first and $29 additional. The highest first-item price applies once; every remaining item uses its additional-item price. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Review any applicable sales tax and the final total before payment.

Can I book a pickup for today?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Your booking is for a pickup day, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Do my items need to be outside when I book?

You can book while your items are still inside. Arrange any indoor carrying and have everything outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We load and haul it away from there. Contact us before booking if your property has restricted access.

How do I schedule a bulky pickup in Broken Arrow?

Submit the bulky waste form linked from the city's bulky waste page, and expect the schedule to be full for up to two weeks. The charge is added to your utility account within 60 days of the collection instead of being paid to the crew.Official guidance

How is a bulky pickup charged in Broken Arrow?

By volume, at a published rate per cubic yard with a two cubic yard minimum and an eight cubic yard maximum, so the smallest pickup is billed as two cubic yards. A cubic yard is roughly the size of a standard washing machine, and the amount is added to the utility account.Official guidance

What can go in a Broken Arrow bulky pickup?

Items too large for the refuse cart, including appliances, furniture and green waste that is too big to bag or bundle. Any appliance with a refrigeration system needs the refrigerant removal verification form showing a licensed technician removed it.Official guidance

What will Broken Arrow refuse on a bulky pickup?

Tires, televisions, monitors, microwaves, concrete and dirt cannot be picked up on the bulky route, and no hazardous items such as pool chemicals, paint, oils or batteries are allowed. Electronics and chemicals each have their own drop off instead.Official guidance

Will Broken Arrow take a couch at the curb?

Yes, but only as a scheduled bulky waste pickup rather than on the weekly cart route. Furniture is one of the families the city names for the bulky service, and the pickup is billed by volume with a two cubic yard minimum, so it is worth stacking several pieces into one booking.Official guidance

Can a mattress go out in Broken Arrow?

Yes, as a scheduled bulky waste pickup, because a mattress will not fit in the refuse cart. Mattresses are not on the city's list of items the bulky pickup refuses, but they are also not named in the city's examples, so mention the bedding when you book the pickup.Official guidance

How do I get rid of a refrigerator in Broken Arrow?

Book a bulky waste pickup, but first have the refrigerant removed by a licensed technician, because the city accepts refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers and other Freon containing items only with the refrigerant removal verification form attached to the request.Official guidance

Where does a microwave go in Broken Arrow?

To the Metropolitan Environmental Trust center at 302 N. Elm Place, because microwaves are on the city's list of items a bulky waste pickup will not take. The center accepts microwaves among the electronics it takes free of charge.Official guidance

Where do televisions and computers go in Broken Arrow?

To the Metropolitan Environmental Trust center at 302 N. Elm Place, which the city names for electronic waste. Televisions, monitors, computers, laptops, printers, keyboards, cell phones, cameras, power cords, small appliances and VCR or DVD players are all on the city's list of accepted electronics.Official guidance

Is there a fee for a television at the M.e.t. in Broken Arrow?

Yes. Televisions and CRT or LCD monitors are recycled for a small fee, and the city requires a credit bought at metrecycle.com before the drop off, while the other listed electronics such as computers, laptops, printers, cell phones and microwaves are taken free of charge.Official guidance

Who collects the trash in Broken Arrow?

Broken Arrow Solid Waste & Recycling does, with city crews rather than a private hauler. Each residence with service gets a black refuse cart and a blue recycling cart, collected once a week, and the office answers questions on 918-259-6570.Official guidance

How do I find my Broken Arrow pickup day?

Collection runs Monday through Thursday by area of the city: Monday customers are generally south of New Orleans Street between Mingo Road and Elm Place, Tuesday customers sit between Houston Street and the Creek Turnpike, Wednesday customers are in the northwest, and Thursday customers are north of State Highway 51. Call 918-259-6570 or use the My Broken Arrow Action Center app if the map is unclear.Official guidance

Where are the Broken Arrow refuse rates published?

On the city's utility rates page, which carries the curbside refuse rate, the extra bag charge, the excess yard waste charge, the bulky pickup rate, the additional cart charge and the cart change, removal and replacement fees for the schedule running October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.Official guidance

What happens to my collection on a holiday in Broken Arrow?

Crews collect on city observed holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. When one of those three falls on a service day the cart goes out the following day, with Thursday customers sliding to Friday for Thanksgiving and the other two holidays sliding the affected days by one.Official guidance
