City cost & eligibility
No charge. Appliance collection rides the weekly bulk service included in the residential rate billed through the town utility account. A unit that cannot be made ready for the bulk crew, or one larger than the size limit, moves to the hauler's hourly special pickup.

Get it ready
Arrange for a certified technician, such as an appliance repair or HVAC company, to remove the refrigerant or other liquid or gaseous compound and to place the special tag on the unit, because the crew will not collect an untagged freon unit. Keep the appliance out of the trash cart and out of the recycling cart.
Trash goes in the cart, bagged, with the lid closed and no more than 100 pounds per cart, and recyclables stay loose rather than bagged. Carts go to the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day, no earlier than 8 a.m. the day before and no later than 8 a.m. the day after, within two feet of the street edge with the handles facing the house so the lid opens toward the street and well clear of the mailbox.
