Non refrigerant appliances go out on the annual bulk pickup or to the city recycling center, while a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner is refused on both and takes an outside route.
City cost & eligibility
A non Freon appliance is taken either on the free annual bulk pickup or at the Deepwood Recycling Center, which publishes no fee for the drop-off, and a Freon unit is refused by both, with the city pointing to the Hutto Recycling Center or a junk removal service. Confirm the route and any charge for the exact unit before it leaves the house.
When & how
On the scheduled bulk pickup day, or during the recycling center's opening hours from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Get it ready
Empty the unit before it goes out and keep a refrigerant unit out of both city routes entirely. The recycling center accepts hot water heaters, microwaves, stoves, washers, dryers and dishwashers, and refuses water softeners along with anything that held refrigerant.
One free bulk pickup a year, up to five cubic yards
Since January 2025 there is no spring cleanup week, and an in-city household may schedule one free bulk pickup in any calendar year by calling Republic Services on 512-255-4980 a week before its regular collection day. The load goes out by 7 a.m. on the day set and tops out at five cubic yards, with furniture, mattresses, scrap metal, trimmed lumber and non refrigerant appliances accepted, and refrigerant appliances, televisions, tires, paint, chemicals, brush and construction material refused.
Appliances, every kind of battery, compressed gases, concrete, construction debris, dirt and rock, electronic devices, hazardous chemicals, loose brush and yard debris, propane tanks, stone and masonry, tires and wood or lumber are refused in the weekly collection. Most of them have a second route at the city drop-off or an outside program, while construction material has no city route at all.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Free annual bulk pickup
An in-city household with furniture, a mattress, scrap metal, trimmed lumber or a non refrigerant appliance to clear.
Cost & conditions
No charge. Round Rock residents whose water bill comes directly from the City, who may schedule one bulk pickup in each calendar year at no charge for up to five cubic yards. A household inside a municipal utility district asks its district about cleanup events, and additional pickups in the same year are priced by size.
Arrange it
Call Republic Services on 512-255-4980 a week before the regular collection day, describe the load, and put it neatly at the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled day.
Refrigerant appliances, automotive products, brush and tree limbs, chemicals, paint, demolition and construction debris, tires and televisions are refused, and the free allowance is one pickup per calendar year.

Deepwood Recycling Center drop-off
A household with glass, Styrofoam, a non refrigerant appliance, automotive fluids, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent bulbs, a propane tank or household hazardous waste.
Cost & conditions
The city publishes no fee for the recycling drop-off. The household hazardous waste window at the same site is free to City of Round Rock residents and voucher holders and carries a published charge for a non resident, payable by card or check, with material limited per month, so confirm the terms that apply to the load.
Arrange it
Bring the load to 310 Deepwood Drive during the center's opening hours, separated by material, and use the household hazardous waste window in its own afternoon slot if that is the load. Bring a licence and either a recent City water bill or a voucher for the hazardous waste service.
The center refuses refrigerant appliances, water softeners, televisions, alkaline batteries, tires, commercial oil and printer cartridges, and the hazardous waste window takes a limited volume per household per month.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?+
Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.
Where does a refrigerator go?+
Not on the bulk pickup and not to the city recycling center, because both refuse appliances that held refrigerant. The city names the Hutto Recycling Center and junk removal services for those units. What do I need to bring for household hazardous waste?+
A driver's licence and either a recent City of Round Rock water bill or a voucher, and the load has to respect the monthly volume limit.
