Household appliances

Accepted with preparation

Household appliances are refused on the large item route but the city says they may be disposed of free of charge at the Longmont Recycling Center.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. The city states that household appliances such as washers, dryers, dishwashers and stoves may be disposed of free of charge at the Longmont Recycling Center, which also accepts scrap metal. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners contain hazardous gases and are refused on the large item route and at the free landfill days, with Bazor Recycling at 260 South Sunset St in Longmont listed as the local option for a fee.
When & how
Take the appliance to the Longmont Recycling Center at 140 Martin St., open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the yard waste, compost, Styrofoam and metal areas, with the utility bill and identification needed for entry.
Get it ready
Empty the appliance before the trip, keep it off the large item pickup and the trash cart because both refuse appliances, and handle a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner separately because the refrigerant makes it a different stream.

No charge. Use of the Longmont Recycling Center is free for incorporated City of Longmont residents for noncommercial use, and the city states that household appliances may be disposed of there free of charge.
Arrange it
Bring a City of Longmont trash and recycle utility bill less than six months old and identification to 140 Martin St., and use the metal and yard waste areas Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the cardboard and single stream bins open around the clock.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Longmont runs the collection itself, so the city routes come first. A large item pickup covers up to three items on your regular collection day for the published fee, two free landfill days a year take one level pickup truck load of large items and debris to Front Range Landfill in Erie with proof of residency, and a four cubic yard residential dumpster rents for a week between February and October with its own refusal list. Everything the large item route refuses has a published destination: household appliances are free at the Longmont Recycling Center, which also takes scrap metal, oil and batteries, large electronics and the first screen or mattress are handled at the October Hard to Recycle event, and household chemicals go to the Boulder County hazardous waste facility in Boulder free of charge to Longmont residents, with a city chemical drop-off day each August. Construction and remodeling debris has no city route at all, so a project load needs a private hauler or a container company. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Appliance removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Longmont.

How much does appliance removal cost in Longmont?

A full-size household refrigerator is $109 as a single item. A washing machine is $109, and a dryer is $109. Other appliances have their own catalog prices. Choose each item to see your exact total before booking; disposal and recycling costs are included in the item price.

Can I get same-day appliance pickup in Longmont?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Your pickup is scheduled for a day rather than an exact arrival appointment, and we text you before arrival. Have the appliance disconnected and ready outside by your pickup readiness time.

Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?

Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.

Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.

Where do Longmont appliances go?

The city refuses household appliances on the large item pickup and in the trash cart but says washers, dryers, dishwashers and stoves may be disposed of free of charge at the Longmont Recycling Center, which also takes scrap metal. A refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner holds hazardous gases, so the city points to Bazor Recycling at 260 South Sunset St in Longmont for a fee.Official guidance
