Get it ready
Remove or tape the doors on a refrigerator or freezer before it is moved, and keep every appliance out of the carts. A refrigeration unit is refused in a bulky pickup, so do not set one out expecting the truck to take it.
The town contract covers some neighbourhoods and not others
Superior's waste service runs under a Republic Services contract that started on March 31, 2025, with the cost based on the garbage cart size and three carts for garbage, recycling and compost. The town lists the neighbourhoods on that contract, and it states that garbage, recycling and opt-in compost for Rock Creek, Saddlebrooke and the Summit come from the Rock Creek Master Homeowners Association through its own Waste Connections contract until 2028, after which those areas join the town service. Service reminders are the same either way: garbage bagged, recycling and yard waste loose, carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on Mondays, three feet apart and eight feet from obstacles.
A bulky pickup is priced per item and some items are excluded
Bulky pickups on the town contract are paid rather than included, and the hauler publishes the prices per item for furniture, mattresses and non-refrigerant appliances. The same page lists electronics, batteries, tires, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners as not eligible for bulk pickup and sends them to Eco-Cycle's Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials in Boulder. Pickups are booked by phone or online, and the town asks residents to call ahead for large items.
