The local disposal guide

Will the city
take it?

Baytown runs twice-weekly trash and weekly recycling under a contract with Best Trash LLC, and the same contractor offers heavy or bulky trash pickup on every service day. Large items are limited to one or two in a collection, a mattress and its box spring count as two of them, limbs, fencing and flooring go out as tied bundles under forty pounds and four feet, and refrigerators need the refrigerant drained with a bill attached before they leave the curb. Construction debris, contractor waste, storm debris, tires, batteries and pool tables are all refused. The city's own Green Center at 1601 W Main takes household debris, brush, televisions, computers and recyclables from residents only, with a driver's licence and a city water bill in the same name and a cash load fee at the gate, household hazardous waste rides to a twice-yearly city event or the Harris County facility on appointment, and brush pickup runs weekly by zone with limbs of eight feet or less.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Heavy or bulky trash runs on every service day, and sofas, chairs and tables go out with it, with a limit of one or two large items in a collection.

City cost & eligibility
Residential collection is contracted and no per item bulky price is published, so confirm any cost with the city and the hauler at 281-420-5300 before the piece goes out.
When & how
Put the furniture at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your collection day, and give the crew room to work around it.
Get it ready
Keep the piece out of the trash cart and out of the recycling bin, and leave furniture that contains tile or ceramic material off the curb because the hauler does not take it.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

The hauler collects mattresses and box springs, counting the pair as two items against a two item collection day limit, and queen and king sizes are taken.

City cost & eligibility
No per item mattress charge is published for the contracted residential service, so confirm any cost with the city and the hauler at 281-420-5300.
When & how
Set the mattress and box spring at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day, and keep the pair inside the two item limit for that day.
Get it ready
A mattress and its box spring each count as one item, so the pair uses the whole two item allowance for that collection day, and no bag or wrap is required on either piece.
Contracted operator heavy trash and bulk item page with the service day cadence, large item limit, mattress and box spring count, refrigerant rule, bundle limits and refused construction material

Refrigerators, freezers and household appliances

Special rules apply

A refrigerator or freezer is collected only after the refrigerant is drained and a bill proving the service is attached, and the city routes appliances to the Green Center as well.

City cost & eligibility
The curbside route publishes no per item appliance fee and the Green Center charges by the vehicle load, so confirm the cost with Public Works and Engineering at 281-420-5300 before the unit leaves the house.
When & how
Have the refrigerant removed first, attach the paperwork to the unit, and put it at the curb by 7 a.m. on a collection day, or take it to the Green Center during its open hours.
Get it ready
Federal rules require the refrigerant to be drained and documented, so the unit travels with a bill that proves the work, and the household hazardous waste event does not accept appliances.
Contracted operator heavy trash and bulk item page with the service day cadence, large item limit, mattress and box spring count, refrigerant rule, bundle limits and refused construction materialHousehold hazardous waste event page with the twice-yearly cadence, residency proof, accepted hazardous items, container limits and the refused appliances and electronicsGreen Center page with the residents-only rule, document check, accepted electronic waste and recyclables, hours, vehicle load fees and tire limit

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

The Baytown Green Center takes televisions, monitors, computers, printers, cameras and audio players from residents, while the household hazardous waste event refuses large electronics and radios.

City cost & eligibility
From $10 per load for a car or pickup truck at the Green Center, which is cash only, with larger trailer loads priced higher and the schedule posted at the site. Baytown residents who show a driver's licence and a City of Baytown water bill in the same name, with no commercial loads.
When & how
Take the device to the Green Center at 1601 W Main on Tuesday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Bring the licence and the water bill that match, keep the load out of commercial hauling, and leave the device out of the trash cart and the recycling bin.
Green Center page with the residents-only rule, document check, accepted electronic waste and recyclables, hours, vehicle load fees and tire limitHousehold hazardous waste event page with the twice-yearly cadence, residency proof, accepted hazardous items, container limits and the refused appliances and electronics

Construction and demolition material

Not on the regular city route

Curbside crews refuse construction debris by name, including sheetrock, insulation, roofing, shingles, drywall, concrete, brick, tile and dirt, along with any waste a contractor generates.

City cost & eligibility
Construction debris and waste generated by a private contractor are excluded from normal collection and no construction rate is published, so a project load moves through a private hauler or a roll off container rather than the curbside programme.
When & how
Arrange the haul before the work starts and keep the material off the curb, because neither the curbside crews nor the household hazardous waste event take construction debris.
Get it ready
The city's own answers list building materials among what residents can bring to the Green Center year round, and that site accepts household debris and brush rather than a full construction schedule, so confirm a project load with Public Works and Engineering at 281-420-5300 first.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

A treadmill or weight machine is named on no city or hauler page, so the route has to be confirmed before it goes out.

City cost & eligibility
Exercise equipment is not named in the bulky rules and lawn equipment is refused at the household hazardous waste event, so call Public Works and Engineering at 281-420-5300 and confirm whether the machine is collected and what it costs.
When & how
Call 281-420-5300 before the machine goes out, and use a roll off container if the crew will not take it.
Get it ready
Break the machine down where you can and keep it out of the trash cart, because the bulky rules name large items and tied bundles rather than exercise equipment.

Mixed household bulky loads

Accepted with preparation

Heavy trash runs on every service day with large items limited to one or two, yard debris to five bags and limbs, fencing, flooring and carpet to five tied bundles.

City cost & eligibility
Heavy trash runs on the contracted residential service and no per item price is published, while a special collection or a roll off container is quoted by the hauler, so confirm the cost with Best Trash at 281-313-2378 or the city at 281-420-5300.
When & how
Put the items out on a regular service day by 7 a.m. and leave them at least three feet from the street with four feet of clearance, clear of vehicles and trailers.
Get it ready
Tie and bundle limbs, fence pickets, lumber, carpet and flooring in pieces no heavier than 40 lbs and no longer than 4 feet, keep limb diameter under 3 inches, and leave no more than five tied bundles at a time. Pool tables, storm debris, tires, batteries, motor oil, dirt, rocks, concrete and hazardous material are all refused at the curb.

Paint, chemicals, batteries and other household hazardous waste

Accepted with preparation

Paint, chemicals, motor oil and batteries stay out of the cart, with a city collection event twice a year and the Harris County facility on appointment as the routes.

City cost & eligibility
Neither the city event nor the county facility publishes an entry fee, so confirm the current arrangements with Public Works and Engineering at 281-420-5300 before loading the car.
When & how
Watch for the city event, held twice a year, or book an appointment with the Harris County facility on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or the second and fourth Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Get it ready
Stay in your vehicle at the city event and bring proof of Baytown residency such as a driver's licence or utility bill, and keep appliances, large electronics and radios, medical waste, lawn equipment, vacuum cleaners and CRT televisions larger than 36 inches away from it. Dried paint cans with the lids off can go to the curb with the trash instead.

Bundle and bag limits apply on every service day

Heavy or bulky trash is offered on every service day, so most pieces can ride with a regular collection. Large items are limited to one or two, yard debris to five bags under forty pounds, and limbs, fence pickets, lumber, carpet and flooring to five tied bundles under forty pounds and four feet with limb diameter under three inches. Trash goes out by 7 a.m., no less than three feet from the street with four feet of clearance all around, and never behind a gate because the crew will not enter a fenced yard.

Your questions.
Straight answers.

Prices, timing and the details that matter at your address.

How much does pickup cost?

Choose your items to see the exact price. A standard sofa is $79 first and $29 additional. The highest first-item price applies once; every remaining item uses its additional-item price. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Review any applicable sales tax and the final total before payment.

Can I book a pickup for today?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Your booking is for a pickup day, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Do my items need to be outside when I book?

You can book while your items are still inside. Arrange any indoor carrying and have everything outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We load and haul it away from there. Contact us before booking if your property has restricted access.

Does the Baytown crew take a couch at the curb?

Yes. Heavy or bulky trash is offered on every service day, and the hauler collects large items such as sofas and chairs with a limit of one or two items in a collection. Bring the piece to the curb by 7 a.m., keep it out of the cart and the recycling bin, and be ready to confirm any charge at 281-420-5300 because no per item price is published.Official guidance

Will the crew take a mattress and box spring together?

Yes. The hauler collects both a mattress and a box spring, counts the pair as two items, and limits a collection day to two items, so the pair takes the whole allowance for that day. Queen and king sizes are collected, and the pieces go to the curb by 7 a.m.Official guidance

How do I set out a refrigerator in Baytown?

The hauler takes refrigerators and freezers only when the refrigerant has been drained first, with an accompanying bill attached to the unit. The city's own answers also send appliances to the Green Center year round, where a driver's licence and a matching city water bill are required, so confirm the route at 281-420-5300 before the unit leaves the house.Official guidance

What are the Baytown bulky item limits?

Heavy or bulky trash is offered on every service day with large items limited to one or two in a collection. Yard debris is capped at up to 5 bags under 40 lbs, limbs and brush must be tied in bundles under 40 lbs and no longer than 4 feet with a diameter under 3 inches, and no more than five bundles go out at a time. Pool tables, storm debris, tires, batteries, motor oil, dirt, rocks, concrete and hazardous material are refused.Official guidance

Who runs trash and bulky pickup in Baytown?

The City of Baytown Public Works and Engineering Department runs the programme and has contracted residential collection to Best Trash LLC, a Texas company. Trash runs twice weekly, recycling runs weekly, brush is collected weekly by zone, and heavy or bulky trash is offered on every service day with large items limited to one or two. Questions go to 281-420-5300, where both the city and the hauler answer.Official guidance
