The local disposal guide
Allen's residential collection runs through Community Waste Disposal under an exclusive city franchise. Trash is weekly in a 95-gallon cart, recycling is every other week and compost every week on the same day, and loose brush can be scheduled once a month up to three cubic yards. Large items ride a separate monthly bulky collection: each household may put out up to six cubic yards on the same Saturday every month, every item has to weigh under 150 pounds, and household debris has to be boxed inside a container no larger than two feet by two feet by four feet and no heavier than 50 pounds. Furniture, televisions, mattresses and box springs, appliances, bundled carpet and refrigerant appliances with the proper tag are all on the acceptable list, while contractor debris, tires, batteries, propane tanks, car parts and household chemicals are not. Extra trash and bulky loads can also be self-hauled to the Custer Road Transfer Station.
