The local disposal guide
Schaumburg pays for the basic refuse and recycling program itself and hands the work to Lakeshore Recycling Systems, known as LRS, which has been the village's exclusive residential provider since May 2022. Every home gets a garbage cart and a recycling cart at no cost in three sizes, everything goes curbside by 7 a.m., and no stickers are needed anywhere in the village. Cleaning out is straightforward: up to two bulk items under 50 pounds each and up to two cubic yards of extra material come with the service, anything beyond that is billed per yard or quoted as a special pickup, do it yourself remodeling debris is collected up to two cubic yards a week, and a mattress just has to be wrapped in plastic. Electronics are illegal in the trash and get tagged at the curb, so the village publishes a list of local recyclers with their charges, and paint, gasoline, pesticides and other hazardous products go to the Naperville household hazardous waste facility on weekends.
